Darby Electric Company uses some of the latest and most advanced insulation materials from DuPont.
Designed to help protect electric motors, transformers and generators from extremely high operating temperatures, DuPont™ Nomex® is available in a number of types and thicknesses. This variety of Nomex® formats allows engineers to adapt the materials to their customers’ products and specifications.
The combination of reliable materials and smart innovation is just what Darby’s solutions-oriented customers are looking for. “We’ve been using Nomex® since 1992 and it has proven to be a major advantage for us,” says company President Mike Darby. “We use it primarily for slot liners in our random-wound, low-voltage applications. The laminated material provides excellent mechanical strength at the end of the slot, reducing the tendency to split at the opening. The electrical properties of Nomex® allow us to use thinner material as a separator in the slot. This means reduced time in the rewind procedure.”

Darby’s service technicians specialize in keeping critical motors running in the paper, plastics, wood products, cement and chemicals industries. By using Nomex®, Darby gets dependability in its design and its customers get superior performance in their motors.
